Current research: 

Dr. Hier is an academic head and neck surgeon with a very strong interest in medical student and resident education as well as being an active participant in multiple facets of clinical research. He was involved in pioneering work on salivary gland transfer surgery to prevent xerostomia in association with radiation to the head and neck, as well as brachytherapy as part of the treatment for oral tongue cancer.听
