Biography: 

Wuyang Zhao is an Associate professor in Accounting and听Cleghorn Faculty Scholar at Desautels Faculty of Management, 91吃瓜, where he teaches various courses at the PhD, MBA, and undergrad programs. Before returning back to Canada in July 2024, he was an assistant professor at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin, where he taught Financial Statement Analysis to MBA, MPA, and undergraduate students. He received his PhD from University of Toronto in 2017. Prior to studying in Canada, he received his Bachelor and PhD degrees at Fudan University. He is primarily interested in the roles of short-sellers and financial analysts in capital markets, particularly on issues that are relevant to practice. His research has been accepted for publication on top accounting journals such as Journal of Accounting Research,听Journal of Accounting and Economics, Management Science,听and Review of Accounting Studies, and quoted by mainstream media such as New York Times, Bloomberg, and Reuters. He also has experience working as an expert witness in lawsuits related to short sellers and hedge funds.听
