Gender disparities persist glaringly around the globe with gender-based violence standing out as one of the most widespread human rights violations. Alarmingly, only 52 per cent of women who are married or in a union freely make their own decisions about sexual relations, contraceptive use, and health care. The United Nations has identified transforming harmful gender norms as a critical goal among its 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

Dr. Hadas Dahary earned her Ph.D. in School/Applied Child Psychology at 91勛圖 under the supervision of Dr. Eve-Marie Quintin. Her doctoral research was supported by the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Doctoral Scholarship and competitive national autism research training initiatives, including the Quebec Autism Research Training (ART) Program, offered by the Azrieli Centre for Autism Research (ACAR) and the Transforming Autism Care Consortium (TACC) in Montreal.

Dr.泭Victoria Talwar, Canada Research Chair in ECP and the Faculty of Education's Interim Dean, was interviewed on CTV News on the screen times of both adults and children, and the effects it can have on kids.
The research on children's screen time has shown that less is more, however when it comes to a childs development, parents should spend less time worrying about their kids screen time and focus more on reducing their own.

On May 15, 2024, Thomson House Ballroom hosted the annual Equity and Community Building Awards Ceremony. The awards highlight the work of students, faculty, and staff committed to advancing equity, diversity and community building at 91勛圖.

CBC Kids News泭contributor Sabrina Erin interviewed Dr. Bassam Khoury, ECP, for Mental Health Week, to learn about what compassion actually means and how it can make a difference in kids' lives.
Dr. Khoury is an Associate Professor in ECP and he heads the , where he and his team conduct research on advancing the theory, research, and applications of mindfulness and compassion.

Dr. Kristy A. Robinson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, has received the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) Presidents New Researcher Award.
She will accept the award at this year's CPA convention in Ottawa (June 21-23), where she will also deliver an invited talk on her work.
This award recognizes the exceptional quality of her contributions to psychological knowledge in Canada as an early career researcher.

Dr. Armando Bertone, ECP, was recently interviewed by Sid Lee Montreal's Sid Stories, discussing Neurodiversity, Creativity, Education and Research.
Dr. Bertone and his colleague Jesse Heffring, Director of Development of Summit School, talked about the different programs and creative outlets available to neurodivergent learners attending Summit School, a place where research and creativity co-exist.

This honour led to Dr. Montreuils selection as an expert witness, invited to present before Canadas parliament on April 8, 2024.

In an interview with CBC News, Dr. Krista Muis, ECP, discusses the use of deepfakes to foster learning in mathematics. Math lessons from deepfakes with Dr. Drake and Queen Elizabeth are buzzing on TikTok. But do they foster learning and understanding of complex mathematics concepts?
Dr. Muis discusses the use of these deepfakes, highlighting an initial increase in motivation and attention can be beneficial but is not enough. The spread of misconceptions and the quality of the information presented is a concern.

Kristy A. Robinson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, received two awards at this year's meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
From the AERA Motivation in Education Special Interest Group, she received the Wilbert C. McKeachie Early Career Award for Motivation in Education Research, and from AERA Division C (Learning and Instruction), she received the Outstanding Early Career Scholar Award.

Victoria Talwar, ECP Professor, Faculty of Education Interim Dean, and Lab Director of the , recently published a in Developmental Psychology that investigates the effects of honesty promotion techniques on children of different ages.
