  notable alumni from the CAnD3 program. The primary goal of the CAnD3 Trai
 ning Program is to enhance the skills of Fellows in population data scienc
 e and computational population social science\, empowering them to make ev
 idence-based decisions in their respective areas of expertise. The alumni 
 participating in this session will reflect on their experiences with CAnD3
  and illustrate how they have applied the knowledge and skills gained from
  the program to foster data-driven decision-making in in the academic\, pr

 t\, please register.\n\n\nFeatured CAnD3 Alumni\n\nMaria Ahmed (she/her/he
 rs)\n\n2023-2024 CAnD3 Alum\n\n\n\nMaria Ahmed is a PhD candidate in Socio
 logy at Western University. Her research focuses on social and structural 
 inequalities and their effects on population health. With a background in 
 Commerce from Queen's University and a master's in Leadership & Policy fro
 m the University of Toronto\, Maria's SSHRC-funded doctoral work examines 
 health inequalities and how marginalized populations employ resources to c
 ounteract mechanisms of inequalities within healthcare settings. Maria has
  a passion for data visualization and making complex concepts accessible t
 o the general public. Her doctoral research uses both quantitative and qua
 litative research designs to examine inequities in health and the impacts 
 of public policies on disadvantaged populations.\n\n\nMila Kolpashnikova (
 they/their/she/her)\n\n2022-2023 CAnD3 Alum\n\n\n\nDr. Mila Kolpashnikova 
 is an Assistant Professor at Western University with a Ph.D. in Sociology 
 from UBC. Their research focuses on time use among older adults\, gendered
  division of housework\, and North American and East Asian societies. Dr. 
 Kolpashnikova was awarded the 2023 SSHRC Insight Grant for their work on u
 npaid work among retired older adults. Their current project investigates 
 how the fear of falling affects older adults' daily activities\, particula
 rly domestic work and leisure. They have received several prestigious fell
 owships\, including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship at the Universit
 y of Oxford and the Japanese Government Monbukagakusho Scholarship.\n\n\nJ
 ason Edward Pagaduan (he/they)\n\n2021-2022 CAnD3 Alum\n\n\n\nJason Edward
  Pagaduan (he/they) is a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University
  of Toronto. Their dissertation explores socio-cultural perspectives of ag
 ing among a community of racialized\, older adults. Jason is currently exp
 loring the pathways by which knowledge is mobilized for policymakers and s
 takeholders. They are also passionate about inclusive design and knowledge
  translation to make research more widely accessible.\n\n\nMari Aaltonen (
 she/her/hers)\n\n2020-2021 CAnD3 Alum\n\n\n\nMari Aaltonen (PhD in Geronto
 logy\, Adjunct Professor in Public Policy) currently works as a Chief Rese
 archer at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). Her work foc
 us on aging\, longevity\, memory disorders and dementia\, end of life care
 \, health care\, long-term care\, health and social care policy\, and info
 rmal care. She has done quantitative and qualitative research and has over
  40 peer-reviewed research publications (published in English and Finnish)
 . Her specialty is the use of register-based data and administrative data 
 in research. Currently she is a visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Fac
 ulty of Social Sciences (Health Sciences) and Gerontology Research Center\
 , Tampere University. Her work at the university is part of the research c
 onducted at the Centre of Excellence in Research on Ageing and Care (CoE A
