CAnD3 is thrilled to have two amazing speakers\, Dr. Sidd iqi and Dr. Carabali\, joining us for what will be a great Keynote Address . We are also excited to host for the first time the Dragon's Den finals i n person where the finalists from the 2023/2024 cohort will compete for th e grand prize! The Fellows will also give us a glimpse on their work done in data-driven decision making alongside our incredible partners. Her presentation wi ll offer an overview of these influential factors and raise critical quest ions for the future of this research domain. Leong Chair of Child Policy Resea rch\, Hospital for Sick Children\, Toronto\, Canada.\n\n \n\n Dr. Arjumand S iddiqi is Professor and Canada Research Chair in Population Health Equity at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health\, University of Toronto\, and Se nior Scientist and Edwin S.H. Leong Chair of Child Policy Research at the Hospital for Sick Children\, Toronto\, Canada. At University of Toronto\, she is also appointed in Sociology\, Public Policy\, and Women and Gender Studies\, and is a Senior Fellow of Massey College. She holds Adjunct Prof essorships at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina – Ch apel Hill. Dr. Siddiqi’s research focuses on understanding the nature and causes of health inequities\, with particular emphasis on how they are inf luenced by social policies and other societal conditions. Dr. Siddiqi freq uently works with organizations\, including governments and international agencies\, on issues of social determinants of health\, health inequalitie s\, and related matters. She was a member of the World Health Organization Commission on Social Determinants of Health. She is the recipient of the 2022 Canadian Institutes of Health Research\, Institute of Population and Public Health Mid-Career Trailblazer Award.  She received her doctorate in Social Epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.\n \n Dr. Mabel Carabali\n\n \n Professor\, Department of Epidemiology\, Biostat istics\, & Occupational Health\, 91³Ô¹Ï\n\n \n\n Dr. Mabel Caraba li obtained her medical degree from the Universidad Libre in Colombia\, a PhD in epidemiology from 91³Ô¹Ï and did her postdoctoral traini ng at the Social Epidemiology Lab at the Dalla Lana School of Public Healt h at the University of Toronto. Dr. Carabali held a position as Assistant Professor at Université de Montréal and has more than 14 years of experien ce in international epidemiological and biomedical research of infectious diseases and social epidemiology. Dr. Carabali is a social and infectious diseases epidemiologist and her current research focuses on assessing the effect of underreporting and misclassification of the outcome and socioeco nomic exposures in infectious diseases\; and the expansion of statistical methods for the study and understanding of intersectionality. Other projec ts include fever surveillance studies for emergent pathogens in Latin Amer ica\, the analysis of social determinants and socioeconomic disparities fo r different outcomes in urban settings of the Pan-American region\, and ra cial inequalities and spatiotemporal distribution of police fatal encounte rs in the US.
